I recently acquired a trip mine and was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions
for utilizing it to it's maximum potential.
I have a game in a few weeks, so time is of the essence.

depends on the game, depends on the mission, depends on the terrain, depends on the opfor. If it's a CTF game you can deploy it as a defensive measure at the flag station (if allowed) as a method to take personnel away from the defense and add it to your offensive units. If you're going to try the classic Specops "Strong side" you can deploy it to the non-strong side in order to slow down the advance and/or soften up the opfor. If you're a real badbutt, you'll run it all the way to the opposing side's flag station, take their flag and move it half way towards your own. Then you'll drop it and tie off the trip wire to it :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer: :panzer:

If it's not CTF (or if it is) you can also place it on the most likely avenue of approach for the opfor.

I'm a tripmine fanatic. I've probably made, bought, and set more landmines than anybody here. If it's the Master Mine made by Major Paintball here's how to use it. As with all mines pre-game preperation is VERY important. First get a long skinny screwdriver and paint the handle black, brown, or dark green to make it hard to see. You want the shaft of the screwdriver skinny enough to slide between the two halves of the mine right by the safety. This will be the anchor for the mine. Now get a round wooden dowel about 1/4"-3/8" diameter. Make it about 12" long, sharpen one end of it, and paint it a dark color too. Drill a small hole in the blunt end to tie the tripline to. Tie the tripline to it and wrap about 10 feet of line around it. Now tie a large paper clip to the end of the line. Your tripmine "kit" is ready. This will allow you to deploy the mine REALLY fast.

You can fill the mine ahead of time and snap the caps on it but I carry a 12oz bottle of paint with me and fill the mine after it has been set. I carry the mine and everything else in a cammo pouch. Put the CO2 cartridge in the mine before the game and pull the trigger set string out and latch it on the side.

So, during the game, set the mine down.
Put the screwdriver between the two halves of the mine and shove it all the way down until the handle is against the mine.
Adjust the direction of the blast tubes.
Cover the mine with leaves or grass MAKING SURE THE TRIGGER RING HAS ROOM TO COME OFF AND FLIP BACK.
Hook the paper clip onto the trigger ring, making sure it's hooked on the back side of the ring and not through the ring. You don't want it to hang on the ring. You want it to come loose the instant the mine is tripped.
Stretch the tripline across the path or area to be mined and stick the wooden dowel into the ground. Make sure the string is tight. You can turn the wooden dowel to take any slack out of the string.
Fill the mine with paint and leave the caps off the blast tubes.
Now CAREFULLY unlatch the trigger ring from the notch that keeps it safe.
Fill the mine with paint.

This might sound like alot but it really isn't. I can set a Master Mine in about a minute. The Master Mine by Major Paintball is by far the best tripmine you can get. Be sure to leave the tube caps off. Leaving them on can result in only one getting blown off causing the mine to miss the target or it will cause the blast tube to be seperated from the main body of the mine. They just snap back on but you don't want to miss the target. To clean the mine you can snap it apart where the blast tubes swivel then just snap it back together. I completely remove the tube caps from my mines. Good luck.

im no expert with trip mines because i only play anti-tank and sabre BUT

when you lay them down and arm them, i think it would be in your best interest to put them on a choke point in a road/trail because i do know for a fact from hunting tanks that people tend to cluster around the tank and tanks almost always stick to the road/trail. if there is not a tank in the game, still go for choke points in roads and if your playing CTF, put them very close to your flag because they will obviously want to go there.

good luck
