ok so i live in tx and i am a sniper for my team...i have made a ghille but its hotter than hades inside and if i played a game in it i would have a heat stroke...soo while posting on the forums i saw a mask with two fans inside to cool the player...my question is...has anyone put a fan in their ghille to cool them? if so does anyone have a how to? [ive searched and no dice]...mine is a full burlap ghille head-to-toe...

Why would you want a humming noise from fans while in a ghillie suit? Another problem is what if some of the strands of the ghillie get caught in the fan, jam it and it heats up and catches fire? You should go ahead and stick to H2O to keep you cool, heat is the price you pay for wearing a ghillie.

You wear a ghillie in texas? That's got to be unbearble hot. I'd say buy the action ghillie from SO, it's less hot then a regular ghillie suit, and it's lighter.
Yeah I use an M-16 grip, wanna fight about it?

Maybe you should look at a liquid cooling system...kind of like the astronauts use in their suits. Even with 20 fans inside your ghillie, it will not effectively cool you.

Even with liquid cooling he'd need a fan somewhere to cool the radiator otherwise it wouldn't offer much cooling, but impractical IMO better off using blue ice packs and swapping them out for 'fresh' ones from a cooler in your car or ditch the ghille till fall/late winter.

I agree with this post 100%.
The whole idea of just drinking water is better than nothing to keep you cool. Plus underneath the ghillie try to wear light clothing, under armour if necessary (heat gear) it should work wonders.

I think it could work if you take a large cage fan for computers and attach it to your vest you can turn it on and then blow it up into your mask/ neck area or you can but a bunch of ice into a camel pack and

I always wear my ghillie even in the heat, but depending on the scenario I *might* go with my multicams. I'm currently trying to find a way to attach a small cage fan to my mask and using a hose to cover the top of my mask about the lenses.

But, what I usually do is fill my camel pack with ice and water/gatorade mix. The ice keeps it cool longer and will eventually melt, I also have mesh on the back of my ghillie so the pack almost comes into contact with my kidney area, which feels great! Otherwise I suck it up. I was playing full ghillie two weeks ago in 107 degree heat. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but if you stay hydrated and do it right you won't kill yourself.

btw, I'm diggin the ghillie, too heavy for me, but it would work well at my field.

wait, you're supposed to wear clothes under a ghillie? :semi-dodgy: Once I just wore boxers and a muscle shirt under mine.

Definitely UA... also a CamelBak stuffed under your shirt will help cool you down. as long as you refill it frequently, it'll cool you off rather well.

also, a inflatable sumo suit would be cool to wear under the ghillie, especially if you didn't inflate it until you got on the field, but even then it might be considered cheating... all hits (even bounces) on a ghillie count where I play, to prevent cheaters.

I doubt the suit would last long. It probably wouldn't bounce anyway unless it hit a thick patch of ghillie under it and it would put a whole in it I'd imagine.

I actually don't like wearing the under armour type stuff. I always end up hotter wearing it than if I just go shirtless under the ghillie.

How would the fan intake cool, fresh air?

If the suit can't do that, it will just re-circulate the hot, stagnant air.
