I just bought a case of them, but I never shot them before. Are they any good?

So long as they are fresh and were stored well they should do just fine. A lot of paint, even the cheap stuff works about as well as everything else when it's fresh. Keep it away from the elements and it should shoot about as well as everything else.

Yes, provided you bought them from a source that knows how to handle paint.

I use either the Nelson HotSpots or Nelson Special Forces almost exclusively. If I'm hosting a game in my woods I just use the HotSpots they are consistently sized, and always brake on impact, just make sure if you buy them from a store you open it up to make sure the paint is fresh. The Special Forces have a harder shell that cruises through the weeds and grass better, and also has a thicker fill.

Personally I think HotSpots are the best value for the money around my area. I can get 2000 for $25 on sale. $30 regular.

Hot Spots definitely aren't the "best", but they are very economical here in Minnesota ($0.01-$0.02/ball). Plus they are usually fresh, unlike most Walmart Paint. They are perfect for outlaw games, and when you go to a field that allows walk-on paint, but you don't have the budget to get anything better.

I'm gonna have to side with him... Maybe not worse than Monster Ball, but the ones I've used have been crappy. They don't seem to have a large seam, but they wont fly straight for me and the fill is pretty thin and colorless. Maybe it's possible that my expectations are too high now that I've used Premiums and Marbalizers ? (I know that in another thread I was doubting the quality of Premiums, but he rest of the case seems good so far.)

What box are you getting yours in? Are they in the two-tone orange & white, or are they full color black and orange boxes? I have had some problems with the orange & white boxes, but I have never had a problem with the new black & orange boxes.

A dark color (brownish black) with flames on it. The paintball on the box goes from black at the edge, to gray, then white in the center. The paintballs were a reddish orange with what looked to be a yellow fill.

I have a few left that I use for when I'm making changes and need to re-chrono.

I'll second KRA's comments.

My team uses Hot Spot almost exclusively, and trouble with it is rare. We just can't afford to be spending extra on premium paint, and this stuff works well enough for us.

Hmmmm.... Maybe I just got a bad batch, or some that sat too long?<<< That could be, because around here paintball isn't so popular and I'm willing to bet that stores don't move them too fast. That's why I order online.

At the Feet Farm that I get my paint from, they have the cases stacked 6 high and 4 cases wide on the shelves. I always take a box from the middle because I have seen them either push the older cases all the way to the back when restocking, and I have seen them pull them to the front when restocking. I play it safe and open the case up to check for breaks.

In the cases I get, the paintballs are either gray or brown, hmm..... I bet you did get a bad box.
