so ive read it all up, and apparently anyone who wants a red dot for their 98c needs a riser, okay cool, but i have a flatline barrel on my 98c, can i still add this riser and red dot?

Yup...the barrel generally has nothing to do with mounting a sight. The mounting point for the riser & sight is at the trigger-end of the marker, not the business-end. Regardless of the barrel you're using, there should be no worries.

Especially since it would be just plain dumb to try and mount the sight all the way out on some (admittedly cool-looking, but worthless) rail attachment that is somehow attached to the barrel (like a shroud).

i run a red dot on top of my flatline and have no problems. the difference is there is no where i found that has a riser built for the top of the flatline. if you want to rise your sights you have to do it by yourself with some screws and glue. (no fun) just get a better mask!
